Accommodation

We make you feel at home.

Our welcoming and friendly homestay families are carefully selected and will help you gain a deeper understanding of the local culture and customs.

The school has many experienced Accommodation Officers who are always available to help students with any query or problem. When students are away from home, small problems may arise from time to time. These can usually be resolved quickly and easily. Students have the additional support of Welfare Officers who speak several languages (German, Russian, Spanish, Polish, Italian, Chinese, Czech, Albanian) and offer a complete and confidential service.

Accommodation is either arranged in residence or with caring English families and many have hosted Cavendish students for a number of years. There is a 24 hour emergency phone number available for all Cavendish students and their parents.

All homestay will take place in the conurbation of Bournemouth, Poole, Ferndown and Christchurch.

Please note, during busy times, we cannot always send homestay details well in advance. We try to send detailed addresses of homestays one week before arrival but cannot guarantee that and, to be honest, don’t like doing so. There are several reasons for that, e.g. host families cancelling with us. Although, we always book a homestay once a booking has been confirmed, we know that homestays can and will cancel up until the day of arrival. If we were to tell you the planned homestay well in advance, we know that you will be disappointed on arrival to find out that your homestay has changed. Unfortunately, that is a very common thing in Bournemouth. Therefore, we don’t like to give out homestay information prior to arrival and if we do, we cannot guarantee that the information will be valid until arrival day. Please be assured that you or your child will be accommodated with a homestay (if booked) in the conurbation of Bournemouth, Poole, Ferndown and Christchurch on the day of arrival. We just simply cannot say who exactly the homestay will be. As a parent you can see the exact address of your child by visiting our parents’ page on our website. You will be notified how to login either directly by us or by your agent.

Home Stay Accommodation

Hosts are carefully selected and closely monitored to ensure high standards are maintained.

Adults

Adults have the option of choosing between standard and executive hosts.

Executive hosts have the added benefits of a large en-suite room, WiFi access, TV and a glass of wine in the evening.

Students can choose between single or twin rooms. Breakfast and evening meals are provided Monday to Friday.

Breakfast, a light lunch and an evening meal are provided on Saturday and Sunday.

We will try to place our adult students within walking distance. If that’s not possible the school can be reached within a maximum of 30 minutes by public transport.

Juniors

Students on the Junior Programmes have 3 meals a day and will be accommodated in twin rooms (unless requested otherwise). There will be a maximum of 4 students in the homestay house.

Please note that meals on arrival day start with dinner and finish on departure day with breakfast.

Older junior students (15+) will be provided with tickets for public transport. Journey time will be no longer than 30 minutes to get from homestay to school.

Younger junior students (14 and under) will be picked up and dropped off by our own coaches and buses up to 4 times daily. Our coaches will get as close as possible to the homestay for added security.

Typical coach/bus journeys for our premium students are:

  • Pickup in the morning from homestay, take students to school.
  • Take students back to homestay after lessons and/or day programme for dinner
  • Pick up students after dinner for evening activity
  • Drop off students at homestay after evening programme

Journey time greatly depends on daily changing local traffic/roadworks and will be between 15 and 45 minutes.
